The authors build a framework to understand the broad direction of Chinese foreign relations in the coming decade, focusing on what they believe is China’s Grand Strategy: access diplomacy, or “politics of routes.”
While by no means comprehensive (there is no in-depth analysis of whether China possesses the means to conduct this Grand Strategy, or of potential alternatives), the paper is nonetheless a pithy primer on Chinese strategy and what is driving China’s approach to the world.
